Computer technology and prehistory seem
worlds apart - or are they? Carli Thomas, a young rebellious
anthropologist, struggles to understand a sophisticated technology known as
‘Op-sis7’ in a crumbling western world of the near future. Programs that can
build anything from a CG pen to whole towns see the wealthy thriving in
luxurious computerised homes while the poor are relegated to computerised
compounds; the natural world is, meanwhile, fading from existence. When the
resistant Carli finds herself being involuntarily pulled into an ‘Op-project’,
she is forced to choose between one of its genius creators, Dr McKenzie, and
Gil, her anti-tech rebel lover as a shocking program anomaly comes to light. The
future and past become suddenly, unavoidably, intertwined as all roads lead to
the politically dangerous operation known as Egni’s Dream.
